Musicians And Fans Wax Poetic In ‘Why Vinyl Matters’
Like the brick-and-mortar stores that sell them, vinyl is resurging.
Fans of records talk about the appeal of interacting with music as a physical object — from the ritual of dropping the needle to checking out the album art and reading the liner notes — it’s all a part of the experience.
Now, audiophiles can further appreciate the medium in a new book by Jennifer Otter Bickerdike. It’s called “Why Vinyl Matters: A Manifesto from Musicians and Fans.”
The book has a very eclectic mix of interview subjects, from hip-hop artists to recording engineers to novelists. On “City Lights,” the author talked with host Lois Reitzes about “Why Vinyl Matters” and more.
