New docuseries examines successes, challenges of multi-billion-dollar Black beauty industry

The Black beauty industry is worth billions of dollars. This includes skin care, hair care and makeup.

According to data from McKinsey & Company, in 2021, Black people in the United States spent $6.6 billion on beauty products.

On Tuesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” CJ Faison, Emmy-winning producer and founder of FaceForward Productions, and Andrea Lewis, an actress and filmmaker, discuss the new docuseries “THE BLACK BEAUTY EFFECT.”
