Georgia Power is using a new device to make power lines in Macon more efficient. It’s a demonstration project, but if the company decides to adopt the technology more widely, it could help reduce the need for pricey upgrades to Georgia’s grid to meet rising energy demand.

The piece of hardware, developed by a grid technology company Switched Source, helps power get where it’s needed more efficiently.
