As Georgia’s legislative session kicks off, so does Democrat Akbar Ali’s first day walking the halls of the Gold Dome.

At 21 years old, the recent college graduate is one of the youngest members of the state House ever.

Ali won a special election runoff to represent the district that covers a southwestern portion of Gwinnett County, including parts of Snellville and Lawrenceville. He’s replaced former Democratic state Rep. Shelly Hutchinson, who stepped down because of health issues in her family.
