The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning for metro Atlanta as the region prepares for a weekend storm that could cause widespread power outages and make travel “impossible.”

The National Weather Service (NWS) is putting everywhere in Georgia above Interstate 20 — including Atlanta — under an ice storm warning from 1 p.m. Saturday through 10 a.m. Monday. Up to 1 inch of ice and wind gusts of 20-30 mph are expected.
