OurSong: The Atlanta Gay And Lesbian Chorus To Showcase Spirit Of The Season In Concert

OurSong: The Atlanta Gay and Lesbian Chorus is “finding their light” in the darkness of winter.
The “Finding Our Light” concert will be performed at First Baptist Church in Decatur on Friday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. The sounds for the evening also include holiday standards and light-hearted works with a special guest appearance by soprano Jennifer Holloway.
“City Lights” host Lois Reitzes spoke with director and artistic founder Robert Glor about the production. OurSong was created over 15 years ago when LGBTQ+ choral musicians in the Atlanta community were looking for a space to celebrate their experiences.
“It’s good to come together so that we can make a better community in order to express to people who are not in our community who we are and how we live in the world,” Glor said.
OurSong was featured in season 2 of the hit Netflix show “Queer Eye,” and they sang back up for Hugh Jackman this past summer at the State Farm Arena.
For their upcoming concert, Glor really wants audiences to reflect on what it means to find their light during this season.
“Light is symbolic of what people go through. I think for this season it has a different meaning for everyone. Many people view it through the birth of Jesus, others view it in finding light in beauty and nature. Some people need to find light to get through mental health by finding light in the world. Some people need to find light in something fun, and we’ve tried to look at those different ways within our lens to find our light in who we are,” Glor said.
