“A Parliament of Owls” was the theme of the first Midtown Lantern Parade.

On Friday a Parliament of Owls descended on Midtown.

The event, a lantern parade, was the first of its kind in Midtown. Festivities started at the Promenade Building at Peachtree Street and 15th Street and ended at Sifly Plaza at the High Museum.

Participants were invited to create whatever kind of owl lantern they wanted, but encouraged to keep the event’s black and white theme.

Chantelle Rytter and her Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons, who organize the Beltline parade, put this event together. Rytter created her Krewe after moving to Atlanta from New Orleans, where she was inspired by the way that civic play could bring people together.

The event was sponsored in part by Midtown Alliance, and Cousins Properties, which owns the Promenade building.
