A year after sprint kayaking came to Atlanta with the ’96 Olympic Games, 11-year old Tim Hornsby began learning the sport.

“You just go from ‘point-A’ to ‘point-B’ as fast as you can,” explains his mother, Patti.  ”And it’s just a pure race of speed, kind of similar to track, but on the water.”

Tim barely missed a spot on the US team in the Beijing Olympics in 2008. But at age 25, he qualified for the London games in May.
