Peachtree City Rejects $90M Water Park Resort Proposal

Plans to build a water park resort in Peachtree City, Georgia, have stalled.

City officials rejected the proposal on Thursday night after more than 200 people packed City Hall. Earlier in the day, about 100 people protested the plans.

Great Wolf Lodge officials say they wanted to renovate an existing conference center into a $90 million resort including an indoor water park. But the Wisconsin-based company needed city officials to rezone the area.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that some residents are concerned about “runaway growth” in their community.
