How many years have you been in Atlanta?
“30.”
Why is the work WABE does in amplifying Atlanta vital to our communities?
“We are a source of education from our children’s shows all the way to NOVA, NATURE, AMERICAN EXPERIENCE and our arts programming. We educate about the history of our county (be it good or heinous.) We offer insight/travel to worlds that some of us may never get to experience. That is how I feel WABE-TV amplifies Atlanta!!!”
What’s your favorite part about being a part of the WABE team?
“The diversity of our staff. The fact that many of us can have open and honest conversations as we get to know each other.”
What makes Atlanta “Atlanta”? What makes the Greater Metro area special?
“I moved here Christmas Eve 1991 depressed, broken and finally free. I didn’t know anyone. I didn’t realize that Atlanta was the gay mecca for the South until driving around and seeing all the rainbow stickers on the cars. As my life in Atlanta progressed, I met many great people in the LGBTQ community. I always feel Atlanta saved my life because of where I was when I first started here. There’s much more to my story, but I’ll save that for the TV special :0).”
