  • 0:00: Federal authorities have arrested a man they believe to be connected to the suspicious packages addressed to prominent critics of President Donald Trump. As of now, there have been over a dozen packages discovered and intercepted. The latest packages were discovered this morning, addressed to U.S. Sen. Cory Booker and Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. We discuss the issue further with Dr. Robert Friedmann, professor emeritus of criminal justice at Georgia State University and director of Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange.
  • 13:30: In her new children’s book, “Not My Idea: A Book About Whiteness,” Anastasia Higginbotham explains what she has learned as a white parent actively engaging with white privilege and racism. She joins us in studio in advance of her event at Charis Books tonight.

  • 35:17: October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. To raise awareness among lawmakers, the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) developed a program called “Take Your Legislator To Work Day”. The goal of TYLTWD is to show the numerous benefits to employers, employees and communities alike of hiring people with disabilities, while forming relationships with the elected officials who represent them. To hear more about the initiative, we’re joined by Arianna White and Rep. Dale Rutledge, an employee and legislator team that just had their job site visit. We’ll also hear from Jonathan Kendrick, owner and CEO of Digital Technology Partners, and Hanna Rosenfeld, planning and policy development specialist for the GCDD.

Closer Look is produced by Candace Wheeler, Emilia Brock and Grace Walker.
