Closer Look: Kidtrepreneurs Behind ‘Brown Boys Lemonade’; Anti-Defamation League’s Audit of Anti-Semitic Incidents, Local Speech Pathologist Tim Mackesey

  • 0:00: Since 1979 the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has published an annual “Audit of Anti-Semitic Incidents”. The latest audit reviewed incidents of anti-Semitic harassment, vandalism and assault in the US in 2018 and recorded 1,879 incidents nationwide. In Georgia, the ADL recorded 56 incidents, 30 of which were explicitly anti-Semitic. We learn more from Allison Padilla-Goodman, southeast regional director of the Anti-Defamation League.   • 19:56: There are over 3 million Americans in the United States who stutter, according to The Stuttering Foundation. Speech-language pathologist Tim Mackesey used to be one of them. After struggling with stuttering for 25 years, he went on to obtain his master’s degree in speech pathology and established a clinic in Dunwoody.   • 39:25: Brown Boys Lemonade is a local business owned by two young entrepreneurs, Anthony and Ja’Den Anderson, ages 11 and 8 respectively. The business began back in 2013, when Anthony wanted extra money to purchase a video game. Since then, the business has grown to include a website and clients such as J.R. Crickets. Today, the two brothers join us in studio, along with samples of their secret recipe lemonade.
