Watching 9/11 occur inspired Dan Berschinski to join the fight for his country, and he served until 2009. He spoke with “Morning Edition” host Lisa Rayam about his journey and his feelings about the war.

Retired U.S. Army infantry Captain Dan Berschinski was severely injured during his 2009 tour in Afghanistan, losing both of his legs above the knee to an IED explosion. Nevertheless, Berschinski says he believes President Biden was right to withdraw troops and believes that America should learn from its defeat in Afghanistan.
