The rock duo, Illiterate Light, made a name for themselves cycling across the East Coast playing gigs in small dive bars and eventually landing a slot at the legendary Newport Folk Festival. Their music combines unique styles — folk, DIY, heavy blues — with a dash of punk.

Guitar player and vocalist Jeff Gorman and drummer Jake Cochran dropped by “City Lights” Wednesday and spoke with show producer Ryan McFadin about the creative journey that brings them to The EARL Thursday night. They began by telling us the story behind their name.
