Romancing Dracula with the Atlanta Ballet

Atlanta has increasingly become the headquarters for the undead.  We’re the location for filming and production of the TV series The Vampire Diaries and the Walking Dead. However, one of the pioneers of Atlanta’s horror entertainment industry is the city’s ballet. In 1998, the Atlanta Ballet gave the North American premiere of a Welsh dance setting of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. It became an instant audience favorite and has returned to the Atlanta Ballet stage many times over the past 15 years, including a new production opening this week. WABE’s John Lemley spoke with dancer Brian Wallenberg who is playing Jonathan Harker in the production about bringing horror to the ballet stage.

The Atlanta Ballet’s Dracula takes the stage of the Cobb Energy Center starting this Friday February 8th and runs to the 16th. You can find more information on Atlanta PlanIt.
