Rough Draft Atlanta's Beth McKibben breaks down the history of a different beverage each month in "Beverage Beat." (Canva)

Atlanta’s cocktail culture is expanding beyond traditional spirits, with the rise of zero-proof beverages and non-alcoholic drinks. In this month’s Beverage Beat segment on “City Lights,” Beth McKibben, editor in chief and dining editor at Rough Draft Atlanta, discusses the “queen of summer cocktails,” the margarita.

“Hot sunny days appear to be the preferred environment in which to sip the refreshingly tangy and tart tequila cocktail, especially parked on a patio,” said McKibben. She continued, “The margarita has become the undisputed queen of fun summer cocktails, whether served on the rocks, frozen, or in glassware akin to a gold fish bowl.”
