Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has been on the receiving end of criticism from President Donald Trump and other high profile Republicans who have challenged his commitment to their party and his handling of the state’s November election results.

However,  there’s one notable Republican who feels differently and wants to take his support a step further.

Former California Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s organization, the USC Schwarzenegger Institute for State and Global Policy, will give Raffensperger A “Democracy Action Hero” award next week.

The institute promotes post-partisanship and urges leaders to put policy over politics.

The former Governor personally invited Raffesnperger to attend the virtual ceremony.

Gabriel Sterling, a top official in Raffensperger’s office, made national headlines last week when he called on Trump to condemn the ugly rhetoric surrounding the election and the violent threats that have resulted.

Raffensperger on Monday certified the results of Georgia’s presidential race again after a recount requested by Trump affirmed President-elect Joe Biden’s win by a margin of nearly 12,000 votes.

Schwarzenegger says Raffensperger’s leadership speaks to his commitment to being a public servant rather than a servant to the Republican party.
