Last Friday, President Donald Trump announced the short-term deal to end the government shutdown.

It happened just one day after six Republican senators voted for a Democratic bill that would have temporarily funded the government.

One of those Republicans was Johnny Isakson of Georgia.

In a conversation with WABE’s Denis O’Hayer on “All Things Considered,” Isakson talked about why he cast that vote and the chances of a compromise before the next deadline, which is Feb. 15.
