Shaky Knees Offers Full Refunds Weeks After Postponement

Shaky Knees Music Festival was postponed weeks ago. Ticket holders can now request a full refund.

Shaky Knees announced via email to ticket holders that they may now request a full refund through May 27.

The Atlanta-based music festival was officially postponed on March 18 due to fears of the coronavirus, but no refunds were immediately offered. After the announcement, many took to Twitter to voice their frustrations with the festival.

Are we going to be able to get refunds if we can’t attend those dates? I can go another 30 years in my life without seeing the strokes but I can’t miss my daughters first birthday. No thanks.

You guys need to issue refunds. It would be one thing if you simply postponed it, but the headliner schedules also changed.

Shaky Knees is now set to take place Oct. 16 to 18 with only The Black Keys, The Strokes and The Smashing Pumpkins confirmed to play.

To encourage ticket holders to attend the new dates, the festival is offering automatic enrollment in the Shaky Knees Festival Loyalty Program, which includes “$45 pre-loaded onto your festival wristband to purchase food and merch.”

Some experts say until a vaccine can be found, social-distancing measures will need to remain in place barring large gatherings, such as music festivals, from taking place at all.

A Pollstar prediction estimates an $8.9 billion loss in revenue for the live industry if box offices were to remain closed for the rest of the year.

Other popular music festivals such as Hangout Fest and The Governors Ball are postponing their events until 2021 and offered ticket holders full refunds as part of their announcements.
