The book is the third in her series featuring world-traveling feline Beato as he navigates new cultures, new foods and new friends. Rawal, who grew up in India and now lives in Smyrna, is a world traveler herself, and Beato is based on her real life Norwegian Forest cat.

Previously in the series, Beato has traveled to Greenland and Israel. The books expose children to the joys of travel, and she encourages travel for children even at a young age.

“Maybe they won’t remember the monument you went to, but they will remember meeting another child and playing soccer with them … You will be more surprised in how many ways their personality is going be affected,” Rawal said in an interview with Lois Reitzes. “They have this wide introspection and open heartedness about accepting new things.”

Rawal launches her book Friday, July 7 at 7 p.m. at Little Shop of Stories in Decatur. She will also be giving readings on July 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Buckhead Library along with a launch there on July 19. She will also give a book signing at Posman Books on August 19 at 2 p.m.
