This past May, five former Atlanta Ballet dancers announced the creation of their own, new contemporary dance company – Terminus Modern Ballet Theatre. Their highly-anticipated debut is this weekend, and Lois Reitzes learned more about “exstasis” in an interview with Terminus co-founders John Welker and Tara Lee.

According to Lee, who created and choreographed the debut work, “exstasis … means to stand outside yourself.”

Welker elaborated, adding that the idea of standing outside yourself “leaves the physical self to allow you to be a part of a greater whole, a community of people, and that really speaks to our process and how we work.”

After selling out all four debut performances, Welker announced on “City Lights” that a Saturday matinee of “exstasis” was added to the schedule. You can also sign up for the waiting list on the Terminus website.

Terminus Modern Ballet Theatre will also debut “Lore” at Serenbe in November.
