Country and bluegrass are the pride of Nashville music, though these traditions have deep roots in music cultures from across the Atlantic, including Irish folk and traditional West African music.

The best of Irish traditional music and Nashville Americana come together in the band The Nashville Celts, led by the songwriting and vocal duo of Ric Blair and Maggie Lander.

Ric Blair and the band’s uilleann piper and whistle player Patrick D’Arcy join Lois Reitzes on “City Lights” to talk about their tour and the inspiration behind their music.

The Nashville Celts’ latest US tour stops at the Red Clay Theatre in Duluth on March 22.
