A new era begins at the one-of-a-kind Francophone theater in Atlanta, Théâtre du Rêve. Under the guidance of new artistic director Anna Richardson, the company has launched her first overseen production for the stage – Lauren Gunderson’s acclaimed new play “Émelie: The Marquise du Châtelet Defends Her Life Tonight.” The story explores the real-life intrigues of the physicist Émelie du Châtelet, and how she navigated the rival realms of head and heart. The play is on stage at Théâtre du Rêve March 12-23.

After founding director Carolyn Cook retired last year after 30 years with the company, Richardson took the reins last June.

“It’s really important to me to continue Carolyn’s beautiful legacy of making French more accessible and more diverse,” said Richardson. She joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes to discuss this new play.
