The 40-day 2025 Georgia legislative session has come to an end. Hundreds of debated bills await Governor Brian Kemp’s signature, while many more missed out on a vote. That includes a stack of controversial Senate priorities that went unpassed by the House.

On Tuesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” WABE politics reporters Sam Gringlas and Rahul Bali returned to the program to discuss the latest.

Gringlas and Bali talked about the Georgia state budget, the themes they noticed this session and provided a recap of several proposed bills, including several school safety measures, a measure to reduce civil litigation, and a measure that would change compensation for those who are wrongfully convicted. The reporters also discussed some of the bills that failed to advance this session.

Gov. Brian Kemp has until May 14 to sign or veto the proposed measures that advanced this session.
