George Takei On Life and a Sci-Fi Spectacular

George Takei was in town last weekend.  He became famous for his role on Star Trek as Mr. Sulu – helmsman of the USS Enterprise. He was here to narrate ‘SciFi-Spectacular,’ a series of concerts with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

While fans might remember him from Star Trek, others may know him from last summer’s award winning documentary ‘To Be Takei’ — a film about the many roles played by 77-year-old actor. In the documentary, he even talks about his life as a 5-year old boy in a Japanese-American Internment camp.  WABE’s John Lemley spoke to him earlier and began by asking him about how the documentary film came to be.

Broadcast version of the story that originally aired on November 28th, 2014.
