DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston and Douglas County District Attorney Dalia Racine co-hosted a special performance called “JustUs” in collaboration with Colorado-based Motus Theater.

The event featured personal stories from people who have experienced the impact of incarceration, with monologues read by DA Boston, DA Racine, retired Atlanta Police Homicide Detective David Quinn, and renowned broadcast journalist Monica Kaufman Pearson.

The ReMINDers, a nationally acclaimed singing duo, provided musical responses.

The event was held at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts & Community Center in Decatur.

Boston joined WABE’s “All Things Considered” to talk about why she thought it was important to bring the performance to DeKalb.

Motus Theater’s “JustUs” monologues aim to encourage conversation about the criminal legal system and have been featured in national and global conferences.
