Medical Minute: How A Group Known As IPAB May Affect Your Health Care

Interestingly, the new GOP health bill doesn’t address bipartisan areas of disagreement with the Affordable Care Act such as the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB).

The American Health Care Act re-emerged with striking speed to pass the House on May 4. Senior reporter Jim Burress and medical analyst Dr. Ford Vox talk about Vox’s low opinion of the bill, which he contends is seriously worse than the first.

Interestingly the GOP legislation doesn’t address bipartisan areas of disagreement with the Affordable Care Act such as the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB). The IPAB is one of Obamacare’s mechanisms to reduce health care costs, and does so by taking tough choices out of the hands of politicians, which has some merits. But are there better options?
