It’s a distinct possibility now that U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke has announced a proposal to open up nearly all federal waters to oil exploration.

But the plan has met some hesitation.

Gov. Nathan Deal has been lukewarm on the proposal, and Republican Buddy Carter,  who represents the state’s 1st Congressional District, which covers the Georgia coast, has called for more public input.

Carter joined host Denis O’Hayer on “Morning Edition” to discuss his concerns about the Trump administration’s offshore drilling proposal and what it could mean for coastal Georgia.
