A new study seeks to show how “pushing” people of color into leadership positions at nonprofits can have negative effects and can also mask greater organizational issues around diversity, equity and inclusion.

More than 3,000 nonprofit staff were surveyed about their aspiration to land a top leadership role and to talk about the experiences of current nonprofit leaders for the “The Push and Pull: Declining Interest in Nonprofit Leadership” report.

On Monday’s edition of “Closer Look,” show host Rose Scott talks with Frances Kunreuther and Sean Thomas-Breitfeld, the co-executive directors of The Building Movement Project, about key findings of the report.
