Joshua Johnson is the host of “1A,” heard weekdays at 10 a.m. and rebroadcast at 10 p.m. on 90.1 WABE.  In January 2017, he debuted the nationally distributed show following the retirement of Diane Rehm, longtime host of “The Diane Rehm Show.

Recently, Johnson sat down with WABE’s Jim Burress, and the two talked about everything from what goes into producing the show to the necessity of including different voices and beliefs on the program to the two things people often don’t know about Johnson — that he’s black and gay.
