Starz picks up docuseries on legendary Atlanta strip club Magic City

Premium cable giant Starz has picked up a five-part docuseries on Atlanta strip club Magic City.

“Magic City: An American Fantasy” will explore the history of the legendary club and its influence on the city’s cultural and hip-hop scene.

According to a press release from the network, the series will explore “the full tale of the storied club’s rise to global prominence” that led it to be known as the nation’s “Black Studio 54.” The series will offer an exclusive look into the life and career of founder Michael “Mr. Magic” Barney, who founded the club in 1985, and the lives of the women responsible for developing the club’s distinctive reputation.
