Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Cancels 75th Anniversary Season, Performs On Virtual Stage
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra was celebrating its 75th anniversary season when the coronavirus forced a shutdown of all public spaces in March.
Last week, the ASO canceled the remaining performances in its classical season, which was scheduled to conclude on June 14.
“City Lights” host Lois Reitzes spoke with Jennifer Barlament, the executive director of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and with associate principal cellist Danny Laufer about their virtual stage.
The Atlanta Symphony’s 2020-21 season will be Music Director Robert Spano’s 20th and final season. You can hear the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra broadcasts on WABE’s Classics Stream on Sundays at 8 p.m.
