According to the AAA auto club, Georgia gas prices are up this week compared to just 7 days ago.

State drivers are now paying an average of $2.50 a gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Gas prices across Georgia are up 18 cents from a week ago and 27 cents more than last month. Prices increased 21 cents more than this time last year.

Drivers across the state are paying an average of $37.65 to fill a 15-gallon tank.

AAA officials say the jump in the national average is a direct result of all major Gulf Coast refineries being impacted by the recent winter storm. It caused gas supplies to tighten and pump prices to rise.

Until the refineries resume their normal operations, motorists can expect to pay higher prices at the pump.

But there’s a slight reprieve on the way.

Warmer weather is expected on the Gulf Coast in the coming days, which will help get refinery operations back up and running.

But until then, most drivers will see their pump prices increase another 5-15 cents through the weekend.
