Atlanta Attorney, Activist ‘Disheartened’ By Reinstatement Of Garrett Rolfe

Attorney Gerald Griggs says the city should have followed proper procedure when terminating Officer Garrett Rolfe.

Protestors met at the Georgia Capitol Wednesday after Atlanta’s Civil Service Board reversed the decision to terminate Garret Rolfe from the Atlanta Police Department.

Rolfe shot and killed 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks in the parking lot of a Wendy’s last June while trying to detain him.

Attorney Gerald Griggs, vice president of the Atlanta NAACP chapter, says Rolfe was reinstated based on a technicality and the city should have followed proper procedure.

Rolfe is still suspended from active duty pending criminal charges and further investigation by the department.
