MUST Ministries responds amid pandemic and holiday season

According to Feeding America, more than 1.2 million people are facing hunger in the state of Georgia, and out of that number, at least 370,000 are children.
Research also suggests that at least 1 in 8 adults and 1 in 7 children in Georgia experience hunger.
On Tuesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Dr. Dwight “Ike” Reighard, the president and CEO of MUST Ministries, talked with program host Rose Scott about how the pandemic has exacerbated hunger, and how the Cobb County-based nonprofit has responded amid the global health crisis.
“In 2019, we would give away, on a normal day about 1.1 tons of food, and right now it’s running 3.3 tons of food a day,” explained Reighard.
During the conversation, Reighard also shared how MUST is helping feed families and individuals through its mobile food pantry and its school-based food pantries this holiday season.
He also shared details about how the outpouring of community support has helped MUST reach the needs of more people and the planned grand opening of the organization’s new 172-bed shelter.
