The Yin Yang Music Café was an Atlanta staple and a mini epicenter of music in the mid-to-late ‘90s.

The hot spot, which closed in the ‘2000s, is now the focus of a new musical documentary named “Spring & 3rd,” which are the cross streets of where the music venue was located.

The film’s producer Kemi Bennings and the film’s director Malik Salaam talk with “Closer Look’s” program host Rose Scott about Atlanta’s influence on neo-soul, hip-hop, and R&B, how Yin Yang Music Café provided a safe space and platform for rising artists and their process in creating the 90-minute film.

“It’s important to tell a comprehensive story because truly that building was a huge part of Atlanta’s ecosystem, the music and art ecosystem,” explained Bennings.
