Alice Walker’s “The Color Purple” casts a very long shadow.

It’s earned a Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award and 11 Academy Award nominations. Now the Tony-winning Broadway musical is onstage at Actor’s Express as the big closer to the theater’s 30th anniversary season.
