What does an American look like? If you failed to visualize a beard, a turban and a Captain America costume, filmmakers Visvajit Singh and Ryan Westra have just the film for you.

American Sikh” is a new original animated short film about the real-life story of Singh and his superheroic adventures entering public spaces in his Captain America uniform, inviting an under-informed and often biased American public to reconsider their assumptions about the Sikh community.

The Oscar-qualified animated short film is a collaboration between Studio Showoff, executive producers Guneet Monga Kapoor and Vikas Khanna, and co-directors Westra and Singh. In this interview, “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes speaks with Westra and Singh about the fim.
