The High Museum of Art has awarded the artist Ebony G. Patterson the 2023 David C. Driskell Prize in recognition of her contributions to the field of African-American art.
Since 2005, the prize has been awarded annually to demonstrate the High’s ongoing dedication to supporting artistic innovation and research of African-American artists and scholars.
Patterson’s multiple media work addresses issues of visibility through explorations of class, race, gender, age and acts of violence, in the context of post-colonial spaces. In this interview, Patterson spoke with “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes about her artwork.
