In honor of International Women’s Day (IWD), women across the globe are being celebrated for their work to create social, economic, cultural, and political change. The focus of this year’s IWD is #EmbraceEquity.

On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Rose talked with guests about several women-related topics.

First, she spoke with Michelle Nunn, the president and CEO of CARE. Nunn talked about the global humanitarian work of CARE and how women are responding to crises globally and fighting for human and gender rights.

“Women can multiply and completely expand the potential if they’re just able to work together in solidarity, “ explained Nunn.

Nunn discussed CARE’s efforts to help unbanked women,  women farmers and women on the frontlines of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine.

Rose then revisits a conversation that she recently moderated for the Goodwill of North Georgia in honor of IWD and airs a portion of a statue-unveiling ceremony for trailblazing journalist and civil rights champion Xernona Clayton.

Lastly, Rose talks with Doris Mukangu, the founder and president of the Amani Women’s Center. Mukangu reflects on her journey from Kenya to the U.S.  She also provides an update on how her center is working to empower refugee women in metro Atlanta.
