On the “City Lights” series “Speaking of Comedy,” Atlanta’s funniest locals share insights on the perks and perils of their profession. This edition features Atlanta-based comedian Emily Holden

“I come from a family of very witty people, and as the youngest, I always loved making people laugh, and let’s be honest, I also love attention,” recounts Holden.

Holden moved to Atlanta in her mid-twenties and randomly signed up for an improv theatre class. She ended up opening the Village Theatre with her husband and their friends and ended up doing improv for many years.

When she turned 40, Holden began thinking that she really wanted to try standup comedy. It took Holden until the age of 42 to have the courage to try it, and now she does stand up regularly.
