UPS says it’s looking to bolster its workforce ahead of another holiday shipping season that could see more record demand.

The Atlanta-based company on Thursday announced plans to hire more than 100,000 seasonal employees to work October through January. The company says more than 2,300 will be in the Atlanta area.  It also says some applicants could be offered a job “within 30 minutes of applying.”

“With COVID-19 continuing to impact Americans, our services are more important than ever,” said Nando Cesarone, who leads U.S. operations for UPS.

UPS says one-third of the seasonal employees hired in the past three years have moved on to full-time employment with the company, and that nearly 140,000 people in its workforce started as seasonal workers.

UPS says it’s offering “competitive wages” for package handlers, drivers, helpers and personal vehicle drivers. The company is encouraging — but not requiring — job applicants to be vaccinated.
