Atlanta elects new mayor, City Council pres., and new City Council members in runoffs

The results from Atlanta’s runoff elections are in. On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” program host Rose Scott talks with Doug Shipman, Atlanta City Council president-elect, and Jason Dozier, Atlanta City Councilmember-elect, about their road to victory and vision for the city.

On Tuesday, Atlanta voters headed to the polls for multiple runoff races and elected a new mayor and City Council president along with new City Council members.

Atlanta City Councilmember Andre Dickens defeated Atlanta City Council President Felicia Moore with more than 60%  of the vote to become Atlanta’s 61st mayor.

On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” program host Rose Scott talks with Fred Hicks, an Atlanta-based political strategist and analyst, about runoff results and what new leadership means for the city.

During the program, Rose also checks in with Doug Shipman, a political newcomer and veteran nonprofit executive, who defeated longtime Atlanta City Councilmember Natalyn Archibong in the race to be Atlanta City Council president and Jason Dozier, an activist and Army veteran, who defeated longtime council incumbent Cleta Winslow for the Atlanta City Council District 4 seat.
