Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens announced last week that Balram Bheodari, Hartsfield-Jackson Airport’s general manager, would leave his position at the end of June. Bheodari took on the role during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dickens announced that Bheodari would be replaced by Jan Lennon, deputy general manager of operations at the Atlanta airport, who will become interim general manager.

The city plans to name a search committee and hire an executive search firm to find a new permanent airport general manager.

Kelly Yamanouchi, a business reporter for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution who focuses on Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and the airline industry, joined “All Things Considered” to talk about what the shift in leadership could indicate.
