After a years-long hiatus due to the pandemic, Atlanta Streets Alive is back.

This December, the community event will shut down a three-mile stretch of Peachtree Street from 15th Street to Mitchell Street to vehicle traffic—but welcomes pedestrians and cyclists.

For the first time ever, it’s now being hosted by The Atlanta Department of Transportation in partnership with Propel ATL.

On Tuesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Betty Smoot-Madison, the deputy commissioner over Strategy and Planning with the City of Atlanta Department of Transportation, and Romy Maloon, a project manager and the lead for the city’s Atlanta Streets Alive, talk with show host Rose Scott about relaunching of the community event and plans to expand it in years to come.
