A long-running avant-garde music group in Atlanta is celebrating over a decade together with a vinyl release as well as performances at the biggest experimental music festival in the Southeast.
Duet for Theremin and Lap Steel is comprised of Scott Burland and Frank Schultz, who took up their respective instruments in the unlikely duo in 2006 after performing together in a benefit show for Eyedrum. Since then, the group has released a number of recordings of their improvisations, but they approached “10,” their 2016 release, with the idea of intentionally making an album.
“We decided to do a release that we could have a little bit of fun in the studio with,” Schultz says.
