Atlanta’s first inspector general said on Monday that she is resigning after what she alleges is retaliation against her and her office’s work to root out waste, fraud and abuse at City Hall.

Shannon Manigault took the position at the end of 2020 after Atlanta’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) was formed in the wake of a massive federal investigation over bribery, kickbacks and misuse of city resources during Mayor Kasim Reed’s tenure.
