Atlanta-born Alex Hitz is an award-winning chef and writer. His new book is called “The Art of the Host: Recipes and Rules for Flawless Entertaining,” and it describes the best ways to host a party, right down to the intricate details.

Drawing on his southern background, he delves into the art of Southern hospitality and the delicious dishes that parallel. Hitz has also curated twelve menus to go along with any occasion from a Thanksgiving feast, to a Boxing Day buffet, to a romantic dinner for two on Valentines Day. His cookbook ranges from “go-to” comfort meals to decadent dinner parties.

“The recipes are super easy and full proof. Unlike most other cookbooks that I have found, which is incidentally the reason I started writing cookbooks, these recipes are tested a hundred-zillion-trillion times. If you can read from this book, then you can cook,” said Hitz.

Hitz will be speaking at the Atlanta History Center on Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m.
