In the early morning of January 20, 2009, Decatur’s beloved Trackside Tavern was consumed by fire. But as devastating as that fire was, the owners of Trackside rallied, rebuilt, and reopened just two years later with painstaking efforts to retain much of the bar’s original character.

The neighborhood bar continues to be a community mainstay, and today we honor the 41-year-old establishment in our series “Cheers!” a celebration of the Atlanta area watering holes that have beaten the odds and survived for decades.

In this interview, “City Lights” senior producer Kim Drobes speaks with Trackside Tavern co-owners Mikey Brennan and Brian Colantuno about the bar’s life and longevity.
