Black-owned coalition 'Forever a Music Store' speaks of longevity ahead of Record Store Day

Independent record stores have seen some serious ups and downs over recent years with the challenge of the pandemic as well as the rise of digital streaming. However, vinyl still sells, and the community of sellers is diverse and vibrant. 

Forever A Music Store” is a coalition of Black-owned independent record stores founded by D. Tobago Benito. He also owns and operates DBS Sounds, a record store in Riverdale, Georgia. In this interview, Benito joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes to talk more about the collective and the experience of Black record store owners today.
